Get your body, mind & skills ready
1. Practice building and tearing down/packing your tent at least 3 times. Then do it each day for the week before you leave on your adventure. This way you will not be frustrated trying to figure it out when you get there!
2. Walk your intended distance every other day for the month before your adventure to build endurance.
. Do at least three 30 minute hikes in your actual hiking shoes and with your full pack on to build up body strength and stamina.
This also gives you time to make adjustments to pack weight or your shoes prior to your trek if needed.
For fun, meet with your hiking friends and create different obstacle courses to do with your shoes and pack on! Make the training fun!
4. Are you mentally prepared?
