WATER
If you are hiking in to your campsite, carrying all of the water you will need may not be possible.
You will need to prepare to purify water that is from a nearby stream or body of water so you don't drink these creatures that will make you very sick:
Louise Miracle with the Preventive Search & Rescue Team at the Grand Canyon in Arizona shares her tools for purifying water to drink in the video below:
- Make note of any potable (drinkable) water spigots or sources along your trail or at your campsite.
- Carry with you a wide mouth plastic water bottle. For the day, depending on the heat and where you can find potable water, you will want 3 additional liters of water in two light, sturdy, collapsible water bags/or pouches.
